- Abstract: The GOES 6 satellite energetic proton events of the years 1986-1992 are analyzed. 19 of those have a delayed flux component that extends at least to energies of GOES satellite proton energy channel P3, nominally 8.7-14.5 MeV. To explain the existence and the different shapes of the component, we consider models of acceleration and transport of protons at an interplanetary shock wave. The number of delayed events as well as the time delay from the source flare are given as a function of source longitude.
