2000 July 14, Bastille Day

2000 July 14 event

A large solar eruption was occurred on July 14 and it was associated with a filament eruption, a X5.7/3B-class X-ray flare and a halo coronal mass ejection (CME). The X-ray flare started at 10:03 UT and reached its maximum flux at 10:24 UT. The location of the flare was N22 W07. A type 2 radio burst started between 10:17-10:21 UT. The halo CME appeared at 10:54 UT and moved with a very high velocity.

After the eruption high solar energetic particle fluxes of p, He, C, O, Ne, Mg, Si, and Fe ions were measured. Two clear maxima of the Fe/O ratio were observed. The first Fe/O maximum occurred around three hours after the beginning of the particle event and the second maximum around 22 hours after the first one.
