2000 August 11

2000 August 11 event

On August 9 there was a halo coronal mass ejection (CME) which started at 16:30 UT. A C2.3-class X-ray event was reported close (N11° W11°) to the CME event. A partial halo CME also occurred on August 10 at 06:54 UT and it was first detected on August 11 at 07:31 UT.

An energetic storm particle event was observed on August 11 by ERNE. A large-intensity enhancement started at 11 UT. Despite of the August 9 and 10 CME events the energetic storm particle event seems not to have any significant particle-producing counterpart at the sun. The proton event was concluded to be of interplanetary origin.
