===== EFFECTIVITY CORRECTIONS - HED 3X HIT LEVELS ===== **Format(s): f30, f40, f50** ERNE Effectivity Coefficients for HED 3x Hit Levels Version 4.0 (TM format f40, used also for f30 and f50) Usage: multiply lev-3 intensity values for measurement periods with HED 3x hit levels by the tabulated numbers below. The values are from two events calculated by IDL procedure x3corr v4.0: Span A: 2000-07-17 00:00 - 2000-07-17 24:00 (Decline phase of an exceptionally big SEP) Span B: 2000-10-16 09:00 - 2000-10-17 09:00 (Rise and decline of a moderate event) 0) The estimates are based on proton measurements. 1) The resulting LED estimates were in reasonable agreement except that the coefficient for LED-2 was exceptionally high (between 3 to 4) throughout the whole span B (tested in shorter spans). 2) There was no data for LED-1 in span B. 3) No data for the highest HED energies in span A. 4) Relative HED coefficient differences from A and B vary between 2 % to 40 %. The values from span B were typically more moderate (smaller). 5) Except for the first LED channel the LED coefficients for span A are reasonably close to unity. This seems to indicate that the HED hit level has no effect on the measured LED intensities throughout most of the LED energy range. Below LED coefficients (0-33) have been taken from span A and HED coefficients (34-67) from span B. NOTE-1: He3 and He4 values are currently copies of p values NOTE-2: Spectral dependence (especially for HED channels) should be studied more closely. NOTE-3: Effect of HED S1X H2 breakage (2000-12-20) has to be studied. Point 1) above could have been an indicator for the upcoming problems.
